Kinnikinnick Vanilla Glazed Gluten Free Donuts

I am more than excited about today's gluten free product review. Until I found these, I had been donut free for two years. That is just not okay! D.D. and I argued a bit over whether to get the vanilla or the chocolate first, but luckily she was distracted by some ice cream just in time :)

I'm not trying to get sappy or anything, but Kinnikinnick Vanilla Glazed Gluten Free Donuts provided me with an unexpected smile. I live right down the street from one of the best donut shops in the city. Before going gluten free it was a fun treat for D.D. and I to stop in and grab a couple donuts on our way to whatever adventures the day held. I didn't realize how much I missed this until I got to share a donut with my daughter again this week, and it tasted good! It was a small reminder that it really is the little things in life that make the difference.

Ease of Use

Kinnikinnick Gluten Free Donuts come frozen in boxes of six. I expected to open the box and have to pry the donuts apart. This was not the case :) There is a plastic wrapped tray inside the box that kept the donuts from sticking to each other, very handy! I did have to re-wrap the tray in a zip-top bag to store the donuts after the first use.

Frozen or not, Kinnikinnick Vanilla Glazed Gluten Free Donuts are fast and easy. Put them on a plate and microwave them for 15-20 seconds to thaw them. Be careful not to cook them too long- The glaze will melt and the donut gets chewy.

Appearance

These gluten free donuts are perfectly shaped with a thick layer of white glaze.

I tried really hard to get a good picture, but I'm not a great photographer and that glaze is darn shiny.

Taste and Texture

Kinnikinnick Vanilla Glazed Gluten Free Donuts are cake style donuts. The glaze is thick enough that it is more like frosting. Both the donut and the glaze are delicious. There is a bit of the "gluten free flavor", but nothing worth complaining about. I was surprised at how good the texture was, soft and crumbly- just the way a donut should be.

Versatility

This is not the most versatile product, but a gluten free donut needs no other purpose :)

Overall Value

About $6 for six gluten free donuts. Not a bad price, really.

Rating

I love Kinnikinnick Vanilla Glazed Gluten Free Donuts. I can't wait to try the other flavors!
